Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I've never done this before, what questions should I ask an agency so I know that it is completely legitimate?
A: When you call any agency looking for in-home caregivers, it is important that you ask them a few questions first:

  • Is the agency licensed by BOTH the Department of Labor and the Department of Public Health, as required by the State of Illinois?
  • If you are talking to an agency that is listed as a corporation or an agency that is incorporated, does the agency have a licensed Counselor, as required by the Department of Labor?
  • Does the agency conduct a background check on workers through the Illinois State Police?
  • Does the agency provide copies of these documents to clients?

The answer to all these questions should be "YES" before you meet with any potential employees.

Q: What is the first step in securing a worker?
A: Call us and fill out a Job Order Form over the phone or email the form available on the CONTACT US button on the home page of this website.

Q: How fast can I see candidates to interview?
A: Within 24 hours or possibly the same day of calling or sending in the Job Order Form.

Q: What type of questions should we ask when we interview for our position?
A: Below are many questions we recommend asking potential candidates:

  • How long was your previous employment?
  • What were your duties?
  • What was the reason for leaving your previous employer?
  • Why are you interested in this job?
  • Are you looking for a long-term commitment?
  • Do you have any special qualifications (CPR, CNA, childcare education, musical background, speak a second language, culinary experience)?
  • Do you have a flexible schedule?

Q: Once we select a candidate, how do we pay?
A: A one-time placement fee is paid to Hope & Help Agency, Inc. All workers are paid directly.

Q: What if we want to change caregivers?
A: Simply call us and we will schedule an interview for a replacement candidate immediately. There will be no additional placement fees for one year.

Q: What is the minimum number of hours we need to pay for a Come and Go caregiver?
A: We do not have a minimum.

Q: If our caregiver needs a day or two off, would you provide a replacement?
A: Yes. We simply need to know a few days in advance and we will be able to provide another caregiver to fill in for the regular caregiver.
